Hitachi, une multinationale japonaise appartenant à un conglomérat opérant dans onze secteurs d’activité, et KDDI, un opérateur de télécommunications basé à Tokyo dont le chiffre d’affaires avéré s’élève à 34,4 milliards de dollars, ont annoncé une série d’expériences impliquant la blockchain et la biométrie. Au cours des prochains jours, le groupe d’employés des deux sociétés va régler le système de vente au détail d’empreintes digitales de M. Donuts dans les magasins Takadanobaba et KDDI à Shinjuku.
Hitachi a expliqué, dans ce projet particulier, que le système de blockchain est une couche intégrée à la vérification biométrique d’Hitachi et au système de bons de réduction de KDDI. Le processus est assez simple.
- Le magasin doit accepter les coupons de KDDI.
- Ensuite, les acheteurs vérifient leur identité avec un lecteur d’empreintes digitales.
- La structure commence à créer une blockchain à partir des informations reçues.
- Les données sont cryptées et diffusées sur le réseau de chaînes de blocs.
Cela étant dit, le système utilisé dans cette expérience a été construit sur Hyperledger Fabric. Comme le précise le communiqué de presse , contrairement à d’autres blockchain, les informations biométriques peuvent être générées automatiquement comme clé secrète avec ce projet.
L’intérêt d’Hitachi pour la blockchain
Ce n’est pas la première fois que Hitachi teste une plate-forme blockchain pour un cas d’utilisation particulier. Mizuho Financial Group et un laboratoire de recherche aux États-Unis ont également tenté de déterminer si la multinationale japonaise pouvait l’utiliser pour enregistrer les commandes, les factures et d’autres types de données.
Hitachi, classé 38e au Fortune Global 500 en 2012 et 129e au Forbes Global 2000 en 2012, innove depuis sa fondation en 1910. Dans la presse, ils ont indiqué que la société continuerait à soutenir et à examiner de nouveaux modèles économiques pour produire de nouveaux services, et ce, dans divers domaines.
