L’Inde reçoit la première transaction basée sur la blockchain
HSBC Holdings Plc a réalisé une opération de financement du commerce extérieur en utilisant la blockchain pour une exportation vers Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL)
Dans un premier temps, Hong Kong et Shanghai Banking Corp (HSBC) India et ING Bank Belgium ont traité conjointement une transaction commerciale transfrontalière d’une société basée aux Etats-Unis à Reliance Industries en Inde via une blockchain.
La déclaration conjointe publiée par Reliance et HSBC Inde a déclaré :
« L’utilisation de la blockchain offre un potentiel significatif pour réduire les délais d’échange de documents d’exportation de sept à dix jours à moins d’un jour « , a déclaré Srikanth Venkatachari, directeur financier conjoint de RIL.
Il a ajouté que l’adoption à grande échelle peut optimiser considérablement le fonds de roulement de l’industrie. « L’utilisation de la blockchain dans le financement du commerce renforce la transparence, la sécurité et la synergie entre toutes les parties et les parties prenantes concernées.
Selon un communiqué de presse de HSBC,
« La transaction, a permis un transfert numérique du titre de propriété des marchandises du vendeur à l’acheteur dans le commerce sous-jacent. Elle a en outre permis la numérisation complète du commerce sous-jacent. La lettre de crédit (LC) a été émise par ING Bank pour Tricon Energy USA (importateur) avec HSBC India comme banque de conseil et de négociation pour Reliance Industries, Inde (exportateur) ».
Cette transaction de bout en bout a été traitée sur une seule application partagée, la plate-forme de la blockchain Corda de R3. Il n’a pas besoin de plusieurs systèmes numériques isolés et de cette façon, la plate-forme a permis à plusieurs parties de se réunir sur une seule plate-forme.
L’avenir des transactions commerciales transfrontalières
Motivé par le succès de l’opération, HSBC a déclaré que celle-ci a validé la viabilité opérationnelle et commerciale de la Blockchain en tant qu’alternative à la documentation papier.
Dans le même ordre d’idées, la banque de Bangkok, HSBC, BNP Paribas, CTBS Holding, ING, SEB et Standard Chartered, ING, ainsi que la société américaine R3, spécialisée dans les logiciels blockchain, travaillent à l’expansion du réseau R3 et à son adoption à travers le pays.
